Sadie Art

I’ve been meaning to scan and post some of Sadie’s drawings. Her current favorite is to use pen in a tiny notepad she carries around. I bet she’ll see pens and tiny notepads in her stocking, if not other art supplies among her gifts. Depends how strapped Santa feels, and that’s looking more so than ought have been the case.

Anyway, more to follow (and maybe a couple more recent kid pics off the camera in the past day), but this is one that particularly charmed me and made me go on the mission to scan selected notebook art. This is us: right to left me, Deb, Sadie, Valerie and Henry. It’s usually us. Which is why it’s cool that there’s one in which the 5th person is a neighbor holding a bowl of candy, while I am with the three kids at her door, taking them trick-or-treating. They are obsessed with trick-or-treat now. Not sure if that’s why Val is currently favoring the color orange where possible.

Anyway, here it is, actually larger than the original, and clickable for a bigger version.

Birthdays

Yesterday I missed the birthday of blogger Livey, who has a private blog now so it wouldn’t have merited a link anyway.

Today would have been the birthday of my great-aunt, my father’s aunt, Elsie, who’d be north of 100 if she were still around, rather than merely being 90-something as she achieved in the end.

Today my uncle Billy, my mother’s brother, would have been 77. He drowned while lobstering in 1975, along with his brother, who Henry sometimes particularly resembles.

The old computer my life is on, including the birthdays in convenient form, is having issues I am not sure whether are hardware or software. It’s becoming increasingly hard to check e-mail across every account at once and to look up the day’s birthdays as a result. I may have to pre-post a bunch of them as I have it running, as it is right now in safe mode to see if it stays going or still shuts down spontaneously. The behavior is classic hardware failure, but acts like a software problem.

Hands hurt to type from the job, so that’s about it for now.

Well, that and I need to figure out supper and try to feed everyone early and reset the twerps to a better bedtime.

So Much to Say!

I really must find time. Need to do a Henry update, though that can be summed up mainly by noting he seems to have grown significantly out of some of the more peripheral sensitivity, like to azo dyes and salicylates. At the same time, sometimes he breaks out mysteriously and in sufficient isolation that there could be a problem with, say, a specific spice, like nutmeg or such. Related to that, I should really do some food blogging.

Then there is the work thing. While some may sneer at a part time grunt job that supplements our income without totally rescuing us, while keeping us from having child care issues and leaving the potential for me to make additional on the side or build toward future returns, it’s helping, even as it’s disruptive and taking getting used to schedule-wise. The brutal grunt work? Not a problem. Even less so than I’d expected, and apparently they’re happy with me. The sleep deficit is a bit much though. Due to circumstances, I only just got boots today. That ought to save my sneakers from further trauma and help my feet.

Anyway, gotta go. Punctuated by my other computer having shut itself off. Again. This time without the browser running. It acts like it could be hardware, or as likely could be a software thing that seems to happen under the right circumstances, centered on what and how many web pages are open in Firefox.

Oops! There was a birthday today. Never even looked because I thought it was two blanks in a row.

So almost but not quite belated happy birthday to my brother-in-law’s brother Tim!
