Yay Sadie!  Boo Juris!

Sadie is so good.

I had to go to the big client today yesterday, mainly to go over with the office manager the method for linking cases in their new case management software with cases in Juris.  It sounded like no big deal - worth doing today mainly because a trainer from the vendor was still on-site in case - so when Sadie started dressing herself and begging to go, I had no problem agreeing.

Tomorrow Today is the actual day I do the migration of data from the old system to the new one, and subsequently linking those cases to Juris is one of the followup tasks.

Anyway, we got up to her office and found it wouldn’t work.  It had seemed to work when the trainer showed her, but me, the manager, my counterpart from the other IT company, and two tech people from the vendor could not make it see any data in Juris.  My opinion of Juris is such that I wasn’t surprised.  Except I had no reason to believe I’d be hanging out troubleshooting, rather than simply being shown steps I might need when the manager wasn’t there.

Poor Sadie had to hang out in an around the manager’s office for what ended up being close to three hours, less a couple good-sized breaks.  And she hadn’t eaten, which I somehow didn’t realize, but eventually figured out.

Everyone loves to see her, but I felt like the idiot who’d brought my kid and messed things up.  even though she was about as angelic as one can expect a two year old to be.

In the end, when we were back down in the office, she didn’t want to go home.  No doubt helped by having been adequately snacked by then, in addition to having fun, different things to play with (toys and otherwise).

Anyway, the situation got left with the people from the case manager company having the ability to access remotely and keep banging on it with help from their development people and maybe even Juris, if someone at Juris ever got back to them.  Hopefully this morning we will learn that all is well.  I have to be there at 10:00 to start the process.  Which can happen without the Juris issue being fixed, but it’s kind of hard for them to go live Monday if it’s not.

Sadie will not be going today.  But darn, she’s so cool.
