Why?
Mark the calendar! Tonight Sadie asked “why” for the first time, in response to being told not to do something. (Dump water out of the tub and onto the floor.)
A little while later she answered a question affirmatively by saying “sure!” Pronouced SHOO-ahhh, of course. Which is funny, because I don’t think either of us pronounces it that way, leading us to ask her where she was learning her words.
If “why” goes the way of “cool” and “no,” we can expect to start hearing it a lot. At least she’s getting more directable. But being a kid who likes things explained and to understand how things work, she’s bound to question everything.
Update:
I forgot the other part!
Sadie and Valerie make up games with each other all the time. In the tub last night, Valerie made up a game of going in circles around Sadie. When Deb told me about it, Sadie repeated “game!” That’s another new word for her, and a new level of being a mimic.
The whole shoo-ahh thing is cracking us up. I just told Deb that perhaps that particular accent is primal. We both pronounce it properly, so it’s all Sadie’s doing. Of course, she’s also started turning “cool” into a two syllable word, experimenting with it, so who knows.
Wait till she pops up with her first “wicked”. THAT will be a funny, funny moment… and you know it’s coming!

Nic started laughing at me and said that I sounded like a typical Bostonian when I was mad. OUCH! LOL! Maybe that’s where Sadie got the “SHOO-ahhh”. :-D
