Well… Damn!

James Oliver Rigney, better known as Robert Jordan, has died, partway through the last book in the Wheel of Time series, despite a near miraculous apparent recovery from the cardiac amyloidosis that had both lit a fire under him and complicated his completion of the series.

Lucky for us, he abandoned his original plan not to allow the series to be finished if he died, and allegedly had ensured people know how it was to end even without him there.  We can always wonder would it have been the same, but what can you do.

Rest in peace.  You were brilliant, tantalizing, infuriating, and will be about as missed as it gets.
