Watch the Police and the Voter Registrar Miss Me
I always thought it might be fun to go mobile like this. Harder to be a packrat, but easier than ever in terms of miniaturization. At one point when I thought about getting a camper and not traveling, just living in it, I laughed at the image of one or more big computers sharing it with me, and cell phones weren’t what they are now.
These days, well, a large apartment is sometimes too small for five of us. I can see people having a bedroom for each kid (heck, while I figure it won’t kill them not to have their own, I hated the time I spent sharing and always hoped I wouldn’t have to do that to my kids), plus a giant play room or second living room/den/cozy section of the cellar that would be all theirs to trash, plus the basic living room, giant kitchen, office, second office/craft room/library, and so forth. To me the ideal house would also have a well equipped workshop in the cellar, garage or barn, for when the need or urge strikes.
Which, returning to my point, is why it would be hard enough for me to shrink, let alone haul the kids around like that. I think it’s cool that the option exists, and some people take it. It would make for an interesting retirement adventure.
Well, the other point would be making a living if not retired. It’s increasingly possible to work from anywhere, but still more limiting than having a fixed location, even if you work mainly from home. Which reminds me of another post…
