Toothbrush Epiphany

Why didn’t anybody tell me about medium-bristled toothbrushes years ago?  My teeth haven’t felt this shiny since I-don’t-know-when.

Seriously, I remember being taught when I was a kid that to take anything stiffer than a soft toothbrush to one’s teeth was to invite terrible things.  Am I the only one out there who remembers being taught that?

  1. I think it may have something to do with protecting one’s gums.

  2. LOL!  No doubt.  But my gums are happy!  Really happy!  because there is less crud left on my teeth, which has led to a sharp reduction in flossing trauma.

Gawd, this is a gross topic.

  3. I was always a firm person, then went to soft in my twenties because I have ultra-sensitive teeth (thanks, gluten!). But I take vitamin A now to help with my loverly tooth decay, so I could probably go back to mediums. In a couple of years. You know… after I’m all healed up.

BTW, you are supposed to say, “thanks, gluten!” in the “thanks, BuyOwner!” commercial voice. Just so you know.

  4. I was told that by my dentist, but my orthodontist used to make us use HARD bristle toothbrushes.  I still look for the hardest I can find, even though it’s supposed to take the enamel of your teeth.
