This and That
I meant to take pictures of the van, now purchased and in our driveway, today but it was already getting dark when I went out there and took Sadie on errands. She was so funny, walking loose around Hannaford with me. Maybe I’ll manage pics tomorrow.
We’re working on cards, both the cards themselves, with a picture of the kids, and the list, which includes a number of bloggers. I wouldn’t mind adding more.
While we were at the store for milk and TP, I ended up getting a small pot roast on sale, so I get to try making one of those. Or something else with the meat, which is the same as the “London broil” steaks I sometimes get cheap. But probably an actual pot roast.
Then we’ll have a day of not having baked potatoes. The last couple of 10 lb bags I got at the farmstand ran small; annoying to peel for mashed, which is our usual thing. At BJ’s, which caused me to need to TP today by not having the usual 30 packs I buy at long intervals, there were a lot of potatoes. The 10 lb store brand had the same problem of running small, but the 15 lb bags were magnificent, huge baking potatoes in excellent condition. Which I got for mashing, because I was under the impression Deb didn’t care for baked. Not so! It’s that she doesn’t eat the skins. Partly as an excuse to run the oven and toast up the house, we’ve had baked for three nights in a row.
But then Sadie gets bored. The first time we had them, she actually ate most of a potato skin from half a potato and seemed to love it. Subsequently… not so much, or the potato either. Like Valerie, she couldn’t get enough green beans last night, and demolished lima beans pretty well tonight, but the rest… eh. And last night the chicken was good, but she wouldn’t touch it tonight.
Anyway, the van seems very solid and well worth the price. Repairs will be expected and the likliest ones coming up don’t seem unreasonable. It’s missing the rear seat, but we have a source for one, and they’re easy to get in general. The middle is two bucket seats with space to go between, rather than a short bench. That’s better for the carseats. This is the deluxe model Voyager, where my old one was the short model. It feels like driving a big truck, but with a luxury feel, gliding down the road. I hope to be able to afford to register it just before Christmas. Yay!
