The Time Change

Ugh.

And short sleep besides, for everyone but Sadie and perhaps Henry.

Valerie is still adjusting to her switch to a bed a couple nights ago.  It doesn’t freak her out as badly and lastingly to fall out as it did Sadie, but she seems to do so more.  She’s also teething painfully with the last molars.

Her switch to a bed gave us serious furniture overflow.  We had their room perfect, with the love seat in there and exactly enough space for everything.  Rather than moving the crib to our room, which would have required some serious “stuff” processing, and might have involved dismantling the crib or the door, we moved the love seat to the living room.  Where we now have 2 coffee tables, couch, love seat, giant reclainer, arm chair, captain’s chair from the dining room set, 2 potties, 3 bookcases, baby swing, small desk and Deb’s computer, desk chair, deb’s large old desk with the TV and such on it, and a smaller TV stand just big enough for the 27” TV that’s on it waiting to swap with the other TV, which will go in the bedroom after some “stuff” processing.

It also made sense to leave the crib there in case Valerie needed to revert to it, or would be freaked worse because it was gone.  At least she seems to be gamely trying to sleep on the bed, despite having the option of sleeping in the crib, with Sadie, on the floor, on the Nemo pillow, or on the mattress on the floor instead of the bed.  We’re easy.  We even tolerated a good bit of sleeping in a different room or with one of us from Sadie.  For a while, Sadie would only sleep on the office floor.  It’s funny, now that she’s settled down, she has to put up with Valerie not wanting to go to bed.  Last night, after Val had gotten up a few times to peek out the door or leave the room, Sadie got up, told her to go to bed, and slammed the door hard enough to make it so Valerie couldn’t open it again.  It sticks well before it can latch.  While that kept Valerie in the bedroom, it also made her scream, which didn’t help.

She’ll get it.  She might not remain in the toddler bed as it is, but she’ll get used to sleeping differently.  Valerie loves to sleep and has always been the good one about it.
