So Beth tagged us for the 8 things meme a few days ago and I’ve finally managed to think of 8 things that y’all might find moderately interesting that I don’t think I’ve discussed recently or at all. I find myself intensely boring at the moment, which makes it hard. There’s a certain boy child who is apparently stealing all the energy I would otherwise be using to run my brain.
Anyway, it’s a name-8-facts-or-habits-about-yourself and tag-8-people game:
1. I’m an atheist. I’ve tried--and sometimes even thought I’d succeeded at--the being a Christian thing, but it has never really taken and I don’t expect it ever will. I’m too much happier this way.
2. Even though everyone assures me that girls are tougher to raise, I’m completely intimidated at the thought of having a son.
3. I really dislike being pregnant. It’s uncomfortable and it’s sort of creepy if you think too hard about it. Which I try not to, but still.
4. I’ve decided I rather like Massachusetts after all. I still think it’s batshit crazy, but it’s a strangely good kind of batshit crazy.
5. Speaking of Massachusetts, whenever the weather forecast bears absolutely no resemblance to the actual weather I still mutter about 17 inches of partly cloudy, which was the most egregiously bad forecast we endured when I lived in Minnesota as a child.
6. Speaking of accents, the occasional “r” has fled from me lately. Luckily, there’s a whole state full of people who say “idea-r” regularly to adopt them, the poor little things.
7. I support the casino simply because I like watching the Wampanoags do their thing. The tribes that have been able to claim actual land are the last people in America who can do what they want to on their own property, and it amuses the hell out of me that they go ahead and do it.
8. I’m currently reading Battlefield Earth just because it kept coming up in conversation and it was getting kind of weird. Speaking of weird, I’m not really all that shocked that Mitt Romney liked it.
Er, as far as the tagging 8 thing goes, I’m skipping out on that bit because I’m all shy and uncomfortable about that sort of thing. So I guess that means you got a bonus ninth fact, instead.
#3 - I agree. I like the end result, but the process me no likey. That said, I’m willing to do it again to get another fun kid.
#2 - so far raising a son isn’t too bad. Have no fear, just remember to fold his little willie into the diaper to avoid leaks. =)
