Success!
Sadie and I went to Wal-Mart last night and the cards were finally ready!
Then we simply left, rather than shopping. It was busy, sure, but less busy than you might expect. At least if you stayed away from the electronics/movies/music/photo lab section. However, it seemed like most of the people in the store were suffering from what we call “only person in the store” syndrome. We almost couldn’t leave the aforementioned section, and wound up on the side away from shoes and groceries. I was thinking of looking at shoes with Sadie, who is up to size 7 1/2 and has just one pair that fits. Well, and some hand-me-down Land’s End snow boots that should fit if it snows by, say, the end of January.
Speaking of which, Valerie wore shoes for the first time recently, and was not a fan. But they were solid shoes, not sneakers, which might be more comfortable.
So we fled Wal-Mart and went across the street to Lowe’s. Much quieter. I finally got spare truck keys, so I shouldn’t have to call AAA for that again. The van only came with one key, so I got keys for that. The guy who was the key expert used it as a teaching opportunity for a girl who’d never done it before but would need to know how. I learned that some keys come with transponders in them now! They have a device that checks for the presence of a transponder, and they can’t make those keys. Fascinating. I haven’t tried them yet, but hopefully their keys work better than the ones made by Home Depot. Anyway, I got two bags of sandbox sand for the back of the truck, and weird as it may sound, two new trash barrels for the neighbors. I take them all to the street the majority of the Thursday evenings, and it’ll make it easier for me and everyone. Plus they will overflow less freely. And it’s neighbor points, besides being generally nice.
Now to start addressing envelopes…
