Spam
Has anyone else noticed a dramatic upsurge in spam? I’ve been getting blasted with it at rates I haven’t seen in probably the past year or more. I’ve also been getting spam that is from me to me, and bounces of spam that are from “me,” at least partly at an address I no longer use. The address forwards to Gmail now, as it got so buried in spam it had to be effectively abandoned. Gmail in turn forwards to an active address, after filtering spam.
It was almost like flicking a switch. Addresses I have long used but that hadn’t gotten spammed much are getting deluged.
Actually the quantity of spam I’m receiving has dropped off lately, but that’s probably due to my small local one-horse ISP, StupidISP.com, which has recently switched to yet another new bootless spam filtering service, their fourth or fifth in less than three years. Knowing their track record, they’re probably once again filtering out legitimate email that ought to be reaching me.
Note I said ”once again.” Yes, they’ve done it before.
Though spam that is from me to me, yes, I’ve noticed a much higher percentage of that lately.

Their filtering mechanisms just work, so I never even think about it anymore really. But I have noticed it filters out almost 1000 spam messages/month/email address. I’m glad I’m not getting hit with all of that…
