Sadie in Profile
Sadie’s gone crazy with words the past day or so. First, she uses “cool” constantly. We’ve caught her saying “sheesh!” She just said “book” for the first time we’ve noticed. She’s picked back up saying “car,” which she seemed to have dropped when she launched into “no.”
The big thing is “no way!” It’s her favorite new phrase and variant on merely saying no, sometimes used in “I’m being a smart-ass but I’m cute” manner. She used it in conjunction with “go away,” which she has used in the past, ordering her toys to go away, but not commonly or to us. This was “no way!” with a quick pause and then “go away!”
She also informed us today that “bubble” starts with B. Earlier, completely out of context, she spelled out (but did not say) the word cat. That could be sheer coincidence, as she does a lot of “talking” in the form of babbling individual letters. Today she was “reading” a book to Valerie and that was the form it took; babbling letters.
On another note, it appears she may be ready for her first experiences with Play-Doh or modeling clay. Deb started the winter sealing project and Sadie helped her - really, actually did part of the work! - seal around windows with rope caulk, which is essentially modeling clay in stringy form. Eventually she took time out to experiment with the physical properties of the rope caulk, which inspired that observation about Play-Doh, but mostly she helped.
What a good kid. More pictures to follow soon.

Previous entry: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
