Rightosphere Poll

I participated in the latest Right Wing News poll, which is always interesting, since I am not technically a conservative and can be one of those who make the results not 100% one-sided.

He considered the result of the question on “the war on drugs” to be surprising.  I don’t.  If anything, it’s almost a surprise that so many are still misguided.

Fiscal conservatism says it’s wrong.  Opposition to violent crime says it’s wrong.  Preference for freedom and limited government says it’s wrong, and some people on the right still retain said preference.  Strict liability as a preferred legal theory would make it wrong, or at least make less sense.

We’ve all seen the damage done, and the power grab it has been that wouldn’t be worth the trade if it were fractionally as bad.  We’ve all put ourselves in the shoes of people whose life savings have been siezed with no evidence of a drug connection, because now cash is considered evidence of drug trafficking in and of itself.  That is completely unacceptable.

So yeah.  That 45% say they support the war on drugs is actually kind of scary.
