How in the world do you get “burn-in” of a screen image on an LCD monitor?

Update:

We’re in learn something new every day territory.  It’s called image persistence in an LCD, and can be prevented and resolved, but really does happen.  Never thought I’d see it (which I hadn’t when I posted earlier, just been told about it and been skeptical).

  2. The guy who sits next to me at work has an LCD monitor on his editing computer.  It has two burned-in areas around where his bins (where we keep our working files) are always left.

    It perplexed me too.
