Ready Or Not…

Apparently the kids, meaning Valerie, have decided it’s potty training day.  Sadie can’t let herself be left out.

We kind of expected Val would lead the way and that might be what it would take for Sadie, AKA Little Autistic Girl, to be bothered.

Valerie didn’t show the false interest in it at ten months old as Sadie did, but she thinks it’s gross to have even a slightly wet diaper, and has been studying the usage of the bathroom for a while, now going in there to indicate she needs to be changed.

Since they completely dismantled the potty and scattered the parts to the four winds, they are using an insert for the big potty.  Sadie was getting too big for the other one anyway, and seems to be excited about using the real potty.

Not the best timing, but since they’ve started, I hope it sticks.

Update:

And as of today, Valerie succeeded for the first time.  Yay!

It’s sort of a weird contrast, having her want to learn, while at the same time still needing to use duct tape so she won’t gratuitously remove her diaper.

  1. The walking into the bathroom to indicate the necessity for a change is so cute!
