No Birthdays

Obviously not, or I’d have posted them by now, rather than a bunch of quiz results.  This is the last day for a while with none; apparently it’s a popular month.  Three of my nephews, for instance, falling on the 15th, the 19th even though my mother has it fixed in her mind as the 16th to the point of getting it published wrong in the church newsletter she irritated us by having a copy of mailed to us thinking it might suck us in when that will never happen, and the 30th.

I’ve been playing with LinkedIn a lot, but had not gotten around to adding a summary.  The site uses an amusing technique to get you to add more, telling you you’re so many percent complete and that doing X will increase it.  I’m down to having it tell me I need more recommendations.  Which goes both ways; there are people I could issue them to.  I incorporated blogging, and most notably Carnival of the Capitalists, right into my profile.  It’s something I do, after all, with potential relevance.

Anyhow, referring back mainly to this post I managed to generate a “summary” of 2776 characters in a field that allows 2000.  Oops.  It was easy to trim.  The plan is to create a resume as a web page online somewhere, and being able to point to that reduces the need for as much detail.  The main thing was I emphasized at the top that I am looking for work.  The burst of LinkedIn activity might imply that, but not necessarily.

I do have another post pending to write.  Ironically, I’ve kept putting it off because although what I want to say is more or less there in my head, it needs a block of concentration.  Or so I perceive.  That’s the topic of the post, jumping off an article I saw linked in a couple places recently.

This is also trip to Wal-Mart day.  We suddenly ran out or low on multiple things.  Can’t be without peanut butter!  Or diapers.  To which Henry seems to be unusually sensitive, with the only exception having been a White Cloud (Wal-Mart brand) sample.

Since frozen burgers keep flinging themselves out of the freezer at us, supper will be something made of burgers.  Probably scrambled in gravy, over mashed potatoes, or something along those lines.  Ooh, that would go with the fresh broccoli that won’t be “fresh” much longer.

Hmmm… Post first?  Or store?  Decisions, decisions…

Also on my agenda, which likes to slink guiltily out of my head and hang out beyond reach in questionable parts of town, updating the business site.  Even if it’s just going to be side work, it needs to be completed.  Duh.  That, and the resume I mentioned.  Which is largely written, after my various experience posts here working in that direction.

  1. For whatever it is worth, today is my sister Amy-jo’s birthday ... she turns the big five-oh.  Since you have posted birthday wishes in the past for both my *other* sister Noel and most recently my sister-in-law Sandy, for completeness sake I figured I’d enlighten you on this fact.  Of course I’ll have no way of knowing if it is a good one or not.  The joys of being estranged from your two siblings.

  2. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Grandmother is right, it is the 16th. Now get back to work!
