New Job

I had a surreal dream last night, in which I applied for a job at a garage, despite being completely unqualified.  In retrospect, it reminds me of how the front bays of Bob’s Garage in Halifax looked when I was a kid.  I started out trying to puzzle out and fill in an off the wall application at a bench on the left side of the room, where there was a pristine new floor jack beside me in bright blue.  I was alarmed because some other guy showed up to apply at exactly the same time, and I was sure they could only hire one of us.  It was urgent that I get the job and fake it for a few days.  I didn’t need to keep it more than a week, but it was dire that I land it.  The guys at the shop were amused, but not fully aware of just how underqualified I would be.  It’s just that I wasn’t as grizzled as them and the other guy; kind of clean cut for the job.

During the course of what was a remarkably long time there, I ended up moving to a counter/table/desk almost chest high off of a post in the middle of the room, where I then couldn’t read the form well in the dim light.  I had to squint and hold it up a lt, which slowed me even more.  That has to be a direct inspiration of my walk to the post office and filling out a customs declaration I could barely read yesterday.

Anyway, there was no conclusion.  Either I awoke from it, or it just faded into something else unfinished.  Not hard to tell the kind of angst behind that one, eh?  Needing work and money ASAP.  Worried about qualifications and ability to get or do work.  Worried about lack of clothes appropriate to wear to apply and even do most jobs, without something short term that wouldn’t matter first generating money enough to allow for something else.

It’s a wonder I sleep.  It’s a wonder my door isn’t closed right now, while I plow through the “this could bring in cash sooner rather than later or bigger rather than smaller” list, and dabble in the “let’s have extra revenue starting in a few weeks or more to improve things going forward” list enough to keep me happy.
