Mmmm… Money
I’m kind of bummed out because our $500/yr link advertiser didn’t renew the links on AV and three other archival blogs of high page rank (it’s not about the traffic). I simply never heard from them, they didn’t respond to me, and I took them all down yesterday, after 12 days grace before giving up.
What’s worse, our more recent advertiser, who was paying $270 every three months for some links on AV alone, also didn’t renew, citing business model and ROI reasons. Because I totally overlooked the renewal date until two months after the fact, they got two months free, cutting out on us when I anticipated collecting the three months almost ended and the three months ahead.
Makes me wish I’d paid more attention to a couple of similar link ad offers received in recent months. One of them I actually started to reply to, saved it when interrupted, and never went back to it as sometimes happens.
Any recommendations for optimal low-traffic, high page rank, not-too-sleazy link or other ad options so we can go back to having at least some blog revenue? Ideally, of course, we’d post more, and play the specialty blog game better. If surfing and writing and linking is a hobby we enjoy anyway, and is something doable any time, without some of the constraints that might be associated with a job, then yay. Yet I’ve never been up there with the traffic at any cost types of bloggers, some of whom were my contemporaries. I just figure if the thing can pay for itself and some, then it should.
So… thoughts?
