Just to Be Completely Clear

What she said.

Some people are newbie in spirit enough never to have learned that you Don’t. Play. Music. Ever. automatically when your web site loads.

Or video.

Or Blog Talk Radio.

Or anything that makes sound.

Ever.

Period.

“But… but… MySpace does it!” You plead.

Indeed.  MySpace was designed by someone newbie in spirit enough not to understand the web, and is intended to be the moral equivalent of AOL back in the day.  Which is to say, not a normal, full-fledged part of the internet, but a different beast in its own right that just happens to be accessible from the real internet.

MySpace is no defense.

That would be like your kid wanting to run wild and pee on the floor because he sees a stubborn to train, rambunctious puppy doing it.  Just… no.

  1. I’ve even seen a myspace blog that had a song queued up, and if you wanted to listen to it, you could press play. That’s way better than auto music. I don’t know why all the kids don’t do it.
