Idol Gives Dreck
Perhaps it’s time for a quick Idol post before the goofy Idol Gives Back results show, dedicated to Rachel Carson and her billions of demonspawn malarial mosquitos, as well as to tinpot dictators, bureaucracy, shackled minds, and dangerously mixed economies everywhere.
What a boring show.
Chris Richardson actually showed he can sing, sort of, but will it save him? If it’s not LaKisha’s exodus tonight, look for Chris to leave, and listen for the cheering you’ll be able to hear all the way from here. It’s about the most I’ve liked him all season.
Melinda “Pro” Doolittle sounded unusually bad. It may simply have been the song, or perhaps I was distracted by the way she was wrapped in gray rags dangling off her. Which means she sang well compared to most idols most nights. When I looked at the not-very-reliable Dial Idol predictions earlier, she was second from the bottom, which is amazing. Be crazy to see her as a controversial elimination, even if she can’t win. They also had Chris at the bottom, and Jordin at the top and and the only one safe.
Blake Lewis was fantastic. Simple, clear, well sung delivery. Imagine, we liked him a lot. There seems to be a lot of weird controversy about both the song and how he performed it, so I hope he’s not one of those crazy, controversial eliminations.
LaKisha Jones was okay, but bad song choice, like she’s asking to go. It was a bit screamy in places. She’s getting thrown under the bus, and demographically she’s doomed. She’s probable to go home tonight.
Phil Stacey was down a notch from last week, off a bit in places, still looks funny, but man he has a voice. He should be safe.
Jordin Sparks is rapidly turning into everyone’s favorite to win. ours too. And the show is starting, so off I go…
Update:
Well, that could have been worse. Giving it comedic touches was brilliant. The not eliminating anyone was predictable. Adding the votes for both weeks up next week and eliminating two, not so much. Nicely devious.
