Home!

We are finally home from the hospital!  If you can say “finally” when they let you escape a day early.  It was moderately an adventure, between my having to come all the way home to get the infant seat from the van, then my having to park the truck at my grandmother’s house and borrow her car with unexpected issues, a bumper crop of births today delaying checkout, traffic, and fulfilling the promise to stop at my grandmother’s on the way home - as we did with Valerie - and the delay that added.  With an unexpected bonus of my mother taking over as driver of that car so I could grab the truck and not have to return there for it.

My grandmother was very nearly and oddly apathetic about Valerie, which I captured in a classic photo of her sitting engrossed in old family photos a couple feet away from newborn Valerie in her seat on the dining room table.  This time she got all choked up cooing over him at length… before reverting to form, getting engrossed in pictures and talking about my cousin Amy’s kids.  The possibility exists that this could be the last of my grandmother’s great-grandchildren, as well as the last of my mother’s grandchildren.  We’re not many years from potentially more great-greats, if my grandmother holds out for it.

I’m exhausted, despite a surprising amount of sleep.  I can only imagine how Deb feels.

Sadie is utterly entranced with “my baby brother!” She posed with him, first making sure he had Dee Dee, her doll, in his seat, along with a sippy cup.

Anyway, I thought I would do a quick post to say we are back.
