Hey Local People

As we’ve mentioned, we’ve started selling off stuff, both for the reason of needing money that badly, and for the longer term reason of lightening up on the sheer volume of stuff, even if we never move.  On top of that, there’s the “still have lots of stuff from the old office” effect.

Thus some of this is probably going to end up on Craigslist soon, if it seems worth it, or be yardsaled later.  I thought I would mention it, sans all details and pictures there would presumably be, to start warming up the market.

I have a brand new in 1998 Coleman 2-burner propane camp stove that was used for exactly one trip, in 1998, and then only a couple times because I also ate out or used a borrowed gas grill or a fire, or ate cold food.

I have a Brother laser fax machine/copier that as far as I know still works, just low on toner.  I have to test it.  It was just under $300 new probably 5 years ago, and was mainly used for photocopying tax returns and for faxing my partner’s resume when he spurred my enthusiasm by coming to the office to conduct his job hunting activities and get help from me on side projects he was doing not as the business.  Frankly, the theoretical value of this versus what I could get for it may be so disparate that it’s not worth selling, or will hurt, but I can also get along without it.

I have a large Dirt Devil upright vacuum cleaner that was new in 1999 and still works, but has seen better days.  It was used at the office, which means a bit less than it should have been.  The main problem is that the flexible house comes out of the solid plastic tube that goes down to the business end, and had to be first superglued, then duct taped.  The glue eventually let go, but it’s been working great with the tape.  It’s kind of big and heavy, but I liked it so much it’s what I bought for home.  That one died exactly when we moved out of Stoughton, and we got a lighter one for here, where there’s minimal carpet.  Frankly, I’d be thrilled to get $10 for it, as opposed to simply giving it away to someone who can use it.

I have a small refrigerator that’s excellent as long as the smell it acquired has dissipated.  There’s probably some other furniture types of items, maybe even a little computer stuff.  If I’d figured out about Craigslist before I closed the office, I’d probably have been rid of a lot of stuff already.

I’m probably forgetting something, or haven’t thought of something.  For instance, I have an electric leaf blower/vacuum I bought sometime prior to 1999 and used for blowing leaves around a couple times before storing it.  It should be great, apart from being dirty from storage.  It’s in the cellar now.  I’d have to buy an extension cord to use it here, since the one I own for the purpose is strung across the cellar ceiling between our outlet and our FiOS box due to Verizon’s goof.
