Harry Potter and the Gout Attack

It was a bit distracting reading after I’d been hit with an unfortunate “dehydrato” spell that made my gout flare up.  It was as excrutiating as it’s ever been, and with a sufficiently different locus that I didn’t realize what it was at first.

Since I haven’t been eating purine rich foods, but I had been drinking too little fluid, I think I can say with confidence that dehydration is the primary trigger with me.  After this incident, I can also see that I have had gout attacks to some degree for years before the first one I recognized as such.

I’ve been trying to get a lot of water down today, and it’s subsided a lot.  Yay!
