“Get a Real Blog,” Anyone?

Perhaps this sort of thing will result in another stampeded from Blogger to real blogs.  Or to Wordpress hosting, which is reportedly everything Blogger is not.  A shame, too, as Blogger had improved much over the years.

  1. Yeah, yesterday’s debacle with New Blogger is exactly the kind of mishap I was anticipating when I was forced a week ago to switch over from old Blogger to New Blogger. Note, I say “forced”: last Friday I discovered that the only way I could log in anymore was to “upgrade” to New Blogger.

And if yesterday is any indication, New Blogger is still every bit as buggy and problem-prone as I’d been fearing. At least two-plus years of my blog archives did not vanish into the void, as it seemed at first. I mean, I have backups on my hard drive, but talk about a heartstopper…

The only thing that keeps me with Blogger at this point is that I’m a known quantity at my current URL, and I’m in a comfortable routine with my blogging. It takes me not too many minutes after breakfast every morning, and I’m just not inclined to put forth the energy however minimal, or deal with the dislocation and learning curve however minimal, that would be required to move my digs.
