Dan Would Be Proud

Supper was on the table last night, but there was no sign of Sadie.

When called, she came wandering out of her room, where she’d been at the computer, and said “I was playing a game.” It’s not even entirely what she said, but how she said it.

Then there’s Valerie.  When Deb called her Valli, Valerie corrected her to “Valerie.” She also started declaring “I’m cute.” Which she is.  She’s the one we could rent out to the cute toddler industry.

And while they are both potty trained now - yay! - Valerie seems to have been the first to go dry all night.  Sadie sleeps too deeply.  Except when she gets up and migrates, which she timed just right for me to lose my place in bed when I was up briefly at 4-ish.

I think our little comedian is going to get bedtime bootcamped tonight.  He thinks he’s supposed to sleep with us, and be in charge of when we go to bed.  And get up, since if he’s awake and ready to go he pounds on you until you wake and respond.  He has a far more developed sense of humor than I remember with the girls, and he also started inventing games earlier.  Helps to be a little extrovert who’s not happy unless he’s interacting with people.  He gives kisses, too.

I should remember to post pictures one of these days.  Heck, I should take some.  We’ve been so stressed, we tend to forget about it, even as Sadie becomes a big kid before our eyes.  I was surprised she wandered last night, as she’d gone a week sleeping in her own bed the whole night.  Valerie keeps getting cuter, apart from the bumps and scrapes.  She invented “uppy, uppy!” That’s how she asks to be picked up.  She’s loving learning words for everything.  “I jump!” They’ve been under the influence of Peter Pan, running in circles declaring “I’m flying” a lot.

Sadie picked up the word thingamahoobie from me, but it floored us when Valerie used it out of the blue.

Anyway, I could probably go on at length about their antics, but this was supposed to be about Sadie exhibiting geek child tendencies.

  1. Don’t you interrupt Sadie’s game playing with trivial things like eating. That’s important educational time.

  2. Alyssa just learned how to give kisses a couple of weeks ago, and she’s more than a year older than Henry.  But then, Henry has siblings to copy.

    Still, baby kisses are awesome.
