Cream Soda Float
When I went to Hannaford this afternoon, there was a sample lady at the end of the diaper and ice cream aisle. I don’t go out of my way to hit samples, but I’ll play along if it’s interesting (which it certainly was last time, with chocolate), and I was intrigued when I saw all the bottles of soda.
Before I had time to register that it was Hannaford branded, remember they’d not had a house brand previously, and register the box of vanilla ice cream, she offered me a sample of the new soda in the form of a float, choice of root beer or cream soda. I have the latter so seldom, I picked it, as did the store employee who came along after me. Good thing, since she brought the spoons.
The funny thing was that both of us focused on the ice cream, amazed it was store brand, it was so good. The employee snagging a sample said she was strictly an Edy’s person. I buy what’s on sale, but almost never stoop to store brands. Especially since they can be just as much, for some reason. It’s been weeks since we finished the last ice cream in the house, and I don’t know when we’ll be able to afford it again, but I’ll have to keep that in mind.
The soda was particularly good, too. Apparently no diet varieties, which isn’t unusual for house brands. The sample lady told me it was 77 cents a 2 liter, which is good.
That was a cool surprise. I was making a beeline to the diapers and wipes, so right spot, right time.
Cream soda. Haven’t had that in ages. In my youth, I found it mixed well with banana liqueur. Logically enough.
