Clean hippie.

Vinegar.

I mopped my floor with distilled white vinegar, diluted in very hot water.

Gotta say, it worked better than the stuff made for the purpose ever has.  And I didn’t have to worry about Valerie splashing in the bucket.

Gads, but I disturb myself sometimes.

We won’t even talk about the sink I scrubbed with baking soda…

  1. really its more Laura Ingalls Wilder than hippie.

I use those and also ammonia because they work.

did you notice on House last night the medical condition was caused by eating organic bread?

  3. It’s frugal and more 1950s housewife, definitely not hippie. When I’m not being lazy, I use vinegar, lemon, baking soda. BTW, shining your sink with baking soda? If you mix in lemon juice or use half a lemon as your scrubber for the baking soda, it works even better.

There’s a great book my MIL gave me called The Tightwad Gazette that has a lot of great money tips, and I’m pretty sure that’s where I got the vinegar, baking soda, lemon thing. I mean, some of the suggestions in the book are on the overboard side, but most of them aren’t.

  4. I LOVE baking soda for cleaning the sink.  I stick a 1/2 lemon in water and put in microwave for say 5-8 min, when done grime falls right off and smells awesome.
