Card Stats

I finished the cards for this year.  There are 79 going out.  Five are spare.  One I gave to Sadie, whereabouts and condition now unknown.  Since at least one spare will want to be kept for posterity, there are four potentially to go to list additions, people we change our mind about including, or people who haven’t given us their new address after moving.  I left out a couple of bloggers I surprised last year.  One doesn’t really know us from Adam, but had sent me an excellent book I never did get around to reviewing.  Another was a pure surprise, to a publicly available work address.

I actually hand-delivered two already.  I have three more for hand delivery to places I will be at or near.  I need 39 stamps to send the ones not yet stamped.  I have some nondenominational stamps of unknown value, so I may manage on a single book plus 19 makeup stamps.  Well, and I’ll need some stamps to have on hand for ordinary business, so I guess it’s two and some makeup stamps.  I have to take the mystery stamps in with me to find out what they are worth.

Fully 39 go to Massachusetts addresses.  The rest go to 20 other states.  Four of the MA ones go to our own town, and 28 go to the same 023 postal region we’re in.

Logically, California remains the second largest destination, despite two drops, with 7.  Oddly enough, Virginia ties New Hampshire at 4 each.  Next is Vermont, at 3.  The states that each have 2 are Iowa, New Jersey, New York, Oregon (which should move up in the next year or two; it’s the place to be), Connecticut, and Texas.  Singletons are Hawaii, Oklahoma, Colorado, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina, Rhode Island, and Maine.

I’m afraid there’s no expansive invitation for blog friends to add themselves to our list this year.  There’s a good chance the remaining cards will be spoken for without that, and it’s not out of line to keep that many even if none are.  Perhaps next year if things are more sane.
