Being Claire

I almost tested my regenerative powers a little while ago, trying to snip off the tip of my left index finger with kitchen sheers.

Who knew they were so sharp!  But then, if I can cut a thick piece of steak like nothing with them…

I had bought four of them.  Deb mentioned beef stew sounding good, so even though tonight we could have leftover spaghetti, I froze three and started working on stew with the other one; two pounds of beef, about halfway cut up.  I turned off the stock pot when I cut myself.  I’d heated olive oil in the bottom, added some chopped onion from the freezer, a chopped clove of garlic, black pepper, red pepper flakes, oregano, bay leaf, lots of celery flakes, and a dash of cumin for starters, then started adding beef as I cut it up.  It already smells yummy.

Back to it.  I just couldn’t help thinking of Claire cutting off her little toe with fabric shears on Heroes, so we could see it grow back.

  1. I like to add a 12 oz can of V8 to my beef stew.  Makes the broth a red color and adds a nice flavor. Use it in place of some water.
    Give it a try sometime

  2. I am the proud owner of an index finger that is slightly flat on top due to kitchen shears. I don’t recommend it! The ER doc was going to do stitches, but then decided it was too little so just had to cut the rest off. Glad yours is ok! smile
