Another Update

Thought I’d sneak this in while I’m waiting for a callback, after the vendor makes sure we have the right setup files for using SQL Server 2005…

This morning they transferred my mother from Brockton Hospital to somewhere in Boston to have a stent installed.  Ironic, given the recent news of a pretty definitive study finding that stents don’t help and can even make matters worse.

More recently I learned that the undisclosed location in Boston was good old New England Medical Center, where I spent so much time in my youth.

Other than that I only have more detail on the initial incident.  She had been out burning brush, but gave it up as she was just wiped out.  She sat at the dining room table with her head down on her arms, having complained she couldn’t breathe.  Then she made a call, and informed my grandmother she’d called for an ambulance to come get her.

That’s about it for now.

1. Bare metal stents are not effective, BUT the drug-eluting variety seem to be another animal altogether.  And very few docs use anything but the drug-eluting stents these days.
