About Time
Apparently it takes nine days for something to remove from search engine cache from the time you unpublish it, if it’s been picked up in the couple days it’s been there. Some went away sooner, depending if it was a direct URL and specified for uncaching in robots.txt, but there’s stuff like category pages involved too.
I’m surprised it takes as long as it does, but not surprised it takes a while.
It’s a “do with care” kind of thing. If you published something you just don’t want up anymore, it doesn’t matter. If something factual hits a nerve, the internet just isn’t good about rubbing things out. Even less so than I’d realized.
Update:
Damn. Not every possible set of words you can search is cleared yet. That’s what I call stubborn caching.
