2 things.

1.  Apparently, when the big airmass comes and takes away the 90+ degree heat (now!  with extra humidity!) tonight, it’s ain’t coming here.  So we’ll have to endure another round of the Boston stations talking about how nice it is while we huddle in our single air-conditioned room.  Because yesterday?  The heat actually made me sick.  And today is supposed to be much worse.  And then there’s going to be another day after that.  If you’re lucky enough to live in this particular corner of the state, anyway.  Apparently.

Fuck.

2.  If you put one of those video player thingies--or anything else--that automatically starts/makes noise/makes music/causes ANYTHING AT ALL to come out of my speakers unless I explicitly hit play, you’re going to internet hell.  And I’m never going back to your blog.  And I’ll probably knock you off the roll so I don’t forget not to visit.  Because no blog is worth putting up with that shit over.  Sorry.

  1. Regarding #2… a couple of days ago I went to the weather page of a TV station and it started playing an audio ad… “Your forecast… right after this...” then the ad played.

    NO NO NO NO!!!

  2. MySpace was the specific reason I hunted down a solution for noisemaking websites.  I found a small application called FlashMute (website) that will take care of most of the problem sites.

I’ve found that with FireFox that later versions of Flash somehow get around the muting, but that setting “Mute entire browser” in FlashMute takes care of the problem.  It’s handy because Ctrl-Alt-M toggles muting, so if there’s something you want to hear, you can just hit the hotkey to listen.
