Jay: What’s In Your Freezer?

Taking a break from working on my to do list and backups, here is why we will undoubtedly want a freezer someday:

That’s a little less neat than I had it, as we removed and moved stuff after I completely repacked it to make it all fit.  For instance, there’d been two loves of bread on top of the veggies, but those were used and replaced by a roast.  Since the pictures, we’ve used a couple chicken breasts and added a small whole chicken.  The other one being in the fridge to cook tomorrow or Saturday.

Hmmm… I wonder if it would work to cook it in the crockpot toward the goal of a shredded chicken dish.

Anyway, this is a lot and yet surprisingly little food, and I can absolutely see maintaining a separate freezer and rotating stuff through it.

Jay: Large

The “2007” folder of pictures from the camera is 27.9 gigabytes.

That does include some zips that haven’t been deleted, and duplication in the form of copies of pictures modified to go online, but still.

By comparison, the other folders in the folder where we keep pictures and other stuff shared on our network are…
(Hey, Henry just rolled over while we weren’t actually watching!)
(He also found his feet today, playing with them for the first time this afternoon.)

Before 2005 - 1.12 GB
2005 - 5.56 GB
2006 - 6.96 GB
A random folder of other pictures, graphics, backups, work files, etc. - 2.28 GB

I just created a 2008 folder and moved the files in the root of the share to a folder, then decided to move all the “not designated with a year” folders to one folder to be even neater.  While “before 2005” is kind of a catch all, how appropriate that there are four completed folders by year, since the 2nd is our fourth anniversary.

Jay: Loot

Here’s a picture of the loot and tiny little tree before the girls had a chance to get up and into it.

Jay: SadieArt 1

Sadie draws obsessively, and has started trying to copy letters, which hasn’t worked out great so far.  Besides having ramped up the effort to save some of what she does, we’ve been taking pictures.  Most of them are people, and those have grown in complexity.  Today she drew a snowman, which was different.

This first one, I have no idea what it was supposed to be, but it reminds me of a slice of pizza.  She isn’t saying or doesn’t remember, or there was no special intent.  It’s a somewhat older one, compared to others that may get posted.  I love the little person on it, so I got a closeup to post here as well.

The third picture is different from the norm, but is an intentional depiction of people swimming in a pool.  Apparently she likes going swimming that much and remembers it that well.  Not sure it got saved, but just the other day she was working on a similar drawing, all in red, of people in a pool.

This morning I introduced her to traditional lead pencils and their erasers, so she’s all excited.  We went through shapes and the alphabet, where I showed her how the letters are just combinations and variations on lines, curves and shapes.  When she followed me into the office and was frustrated by the lack of a surface, I gave her a 14” clipboard and showed her how it can hold paper.  She loved that and filled all the sheets before going back to paper on a table.  Anyway, here are the first three I had ready to post (click to embiggen, as always)…

Sadie wandered in just after I posted this, when I was looking at the post and making sure the links to big versions worked.  I had named the little person “littleguy” when I saved it.  Apparently that was appropriate, since she got all excited about “little guy! Sadie Rose little guy.” And that was in the pizza picture, before I scrolled and showed her the closeup.  She loved that and babbled about drawing a little guy with eyes and a mouth and a nose.

Jay: My Left hand

I seem to have developed this seasonal skin problem, mainly on my hands, which flared up like flipping a switch as soon as fall arrived.  I have no idea what it is, and I seem to recall it getting a shrug and label of eczema when one or more doctors saw it at not its worst.

Right now it’s bad on my left hand; almost as bad as I’ve seen it.  Strike that; it’s improved.  It was bad, which is why I took pictures when I did.  I see the doctor Monday anyway, so it was guaranteed to be better, perhaps to have cleared completely, by then.

The interesting thing is that this time around it seems to be clearly accompanied by an arthritic-like stiffness and almost numbness when bending the hand, as to make a fist.

Below the fold are some pretty clear pictures I managed to get.  This one above the fold is a rather fuzzy attempt to show the inner side of my pinky tip.  The others are clearer and more gruesome, if you don’t want to see that sort of thing.  As usual, click for larger versions.

Hey comment spammers, fuck off.

The rest of you, disregard this post.  I am attempting to mess with the results the manual comment spammers from Ukraine, Russia, or wherever they may lurk, get by searching Google the title of this post in quotes for this domain only.  That is why I am marking this post as being in every available category, because then every category should come up as a link in Google that is not a distinct individual post page with comment entry available.

Jay: Mmmm… Food

In case you haven’t been there, I did a couple posts at The Married Guy Cook earlier.  One is a repost from October 2004.  There are even pictures!  Like this one:

Not only that, I still have time for another post before Hell’s Kitchen, on today’s experiment with chicken enchilada taco thingies of my own invention.
